Its mostly black in colour with great touches of yellow ie handle, centre of speakers and knob on top of ariel. The material its made from is modern plastic no bakelite or Catalin. The power lead is fine we will take off the plug you see in the photo as I believe you are not allowed to sell anything with it attached. The battery case on the back is complete, it takes 6 size "C" R14 or 1.5 volt. The ariel works is still fully extendable with its bright yellow round end. My Husband has looked at it again and he still says the cassette is stuck and needs help and repair! We couldn't try using the recorder as even though I am a real magpie I hadn't kept any cassettes! If cleanup doesn’t help, then pinch roller needs to be replaced. I use cotton wool soaked in IPA, and clean it until surface is nice matte with uniform black color. When you get such cassette player, do one-time deep cleaning. Sometimes, pinch roller looks very bad, but after very careful cleaning, it can be again like new. On the other hand, I’ve seen late 90’s machines with pinch rollers deteriorated.
I have recorders from early 70’s, with pinch rollers in excellent quality. Some original pinch rollers are of very good quality. When pinch roller is faulty or aged, it can have following consequences: They are also responsible for keeping accurate position of tape in whole tape path. Together with capstan they are responsible for keeping correct tape speed. Pinch rollers are critical part of each cassette player.
